Originally published in 1887 by McLoughlin Brothers of New York, this collection includes some favorites from the two books Freaks and Frolics of Little Girls and Freaks and Frolics of Little Boys and adds some new ones, too. The thirty-three lavishly illustrated rhyming stories feature children misbehaving and learning a lesson from their mischief. Author Josephine Pollard, in her introductory note, explains that her purpose is not to teach children new naughty things to do but rather to have children recognize themselves in the descriptions of children in the book and correct their own faults.
